Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
Since last week I’ve managed to finish four books.
(KU) Malice (The Faithful and the Fallen #1) by John Gwynne ★★★★½
This was my first book by John Gwynne and I thought it was one helluva debut! This was an absolute chonkster but Leslie and I sped through it so quickly. The first half is pretty slow but it’s so worth it when all the storylines start tying together and the action really kicks in. I can’t wait to continue the series soon! Check out my essay I mean, review.
The Perfect Escape by Suzanne Park
Friends, I have to say I was a little disappointed with this one. I loved the first book I read by this author and I was expecting the same fluffy, fun, feel-good vibes with this one but I didn’t click with it. The romance was insta and the zombie stuff was fun, but there was a lot going on in the characters’ lives that I wish had been better addressed. Not sure what to rate it!
Moon Shot (Dallas Longhorns #4) by Tara Wyatt ★★★★☆
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this enemies-to-sex buddies-to-lovers romance! Their antagonistic relationship was kinda funny but their chemistry was off-the-charts undeniable. Also, holy steamy! I wasn’t expecting it to get so hot but Javi had one helluva mouth on him. 🥵
Our Violent Ends (These Violent Delights #2) by Chloe Gong ★★★★½
Just finished this buddy read with Leslie and Julie today and omgoodness, what a wild, wild ride! I thought Gong wrapped this story up so well. I’m currently trying to put my thoughts into a review but it’s safe to say, we all really enjoyed it!
I’m a little nervous about starting The War of Two Queens but I’ll be buddy reading it with Leslie and Maya starting today! I didn’t realise it was such a chonkster too? Like, JLA’s books do not need to be 654 pages long, pls. 😭 Let’s just pray for the survival of my Kindle… and my brain too, I guess. 🙏🏽
What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍
I read a review of A Little Bit Country. It sounds cute. I hope you love it.

Haha, I’m totes nervous too. I’m trying not to think too hard about my reading experience with these JLA books in the past cos otherwise it’s just not gonna be a fun time. I’m looking forward to all the Poppy comments from you though 😂 JLA’s books definitely do NOT need to be this long.

hahahaha!! Oh, dear Poppy. 😛 Yeah, I know. I think that’s what is getting to me and the fact that so many people hated this book! We will see!!

The thing is though, unless it was done for a really stupid reason that just doesn’t make any sense (which is not improbable with this book) I don’t think I’m going to hate it for the reason the whole world seemed to hate it 😂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KRISTIN!!! 🥳 I hope you had a fabulous day and YAY for being gifted a copy of Malice! 😍 I hope you love it! I will say you should expect a slow start but it’s so worth it getting to know the characters and the action really picks up towards the end. Happy reading!!!

I remember The Perfect Escape being pretty good. I wanted more romance, but in the past few years, all YA authors seem to be leaning a big heavier. That’s why I have my fluffy faves.

I’m really glad you enjoyed it! I don’t mind when they lean towards heavier stuff as long as it’s actually addressed or explored, y’know? This felt very surface level and sadly, it didn’t work for me. Oh well, I’m definitely keen to try more from this author though since I really enjoyed Sunny Song 🙂

Sunny Song was a far better book (in my opinion).
