#WWWWednesday: 17 November 2021

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Post divider: What did you just finish reading?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish six books! The romances are really getting me through the month, friends 😂 It also helps that I’m taking a gaming break and I’m starting to finally feel motivated to read again!

Main Street Dealmaker (Holidays in Havenbrook #1) by Brighton Walsh ★★★★☆
This was my first taste of Brighton Walsh’s romances and I was hooked. I really enjoyed this opposites-attract small-town holiday romance and if you’re looking for the perfect holiday read to add to your list, this is the one! Check out my review

Never Saw Me Coming by Vera Kurian ★★★½
Getting into the minds of psychopaths has never been so… fun? This was an engaging and twisty wild ride and somehow you can’t help but root for these characters despite how terrifying they’d actually be to meet/know in real life?! Check out my review

Second Chance Charmer (Havenbrook #1) by Brighton Walsh ★★★★☆
This second chance romance set in this charming southern town absolutely charmed me (heh, sorry)! The romance between Willow and Finn was the perfect combination of swoony, steamy and a little bit angsty. Their efforts to overcome the past were both painful and hopeful and I loved watching them grow and fight for each other and themselves. I’m also ready to move to Havenbrook today, please! RTC.

Hometown Troublemaker (Havenbrook #2) by Brighton Walsh ★★★★★
If it isn’t obvious, Walsh has really won me over with her romances. This was a super sweet and swoony romance! 😍 My heart feels all melty with love for these characters, their romance and their journey. It’s an age-gap romance where the woman is the older one in the relationship and I loved that! Our hero, Nash had me wanting to swoon and cry at the same time he was just so damn sweet. Havenbrook and its residents have really grown on me and I just want more! RTC.

Passport by Sophia Glock ★★★☆☆
This graphic novel turned out to be different from what I expected but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. It’s very much a coming-of-age story about the author’s time living abroad with her parents who were CIA agents. As someone who grew up in several countries, I could definitely relate to a lot of her feelings and experiences. It’s my stop on the blog tour tomorrow so I’ll post my full review then!

The Roommate Risk by Talia Hibbert ★★★★½
I was most definitely not ready for this but once I started I couldn’t put it down! Oh, my heart, our hero, Rahul, was so perfect! 😭 This definitely has a darker tone compared to Hibbert’s other romances and it’s also angsty AF but it was full of emotion and the character development was fab! This was an amazing opposites-attract, friends-to-lovers situation where the heroine is the flighty one with unresolved commitment issues and the hero is a pining, love-sick fool for her. Ah, these two! ❤️🥺 RTC.

Post divider: What're you currently reading?

I’m focusing on two books again at the minute! I’m doing my first buddy read with Becky (yay!) and we’re reading Jade Fire Gold. I think we’re both on the same page with our feels on this right now. It’s a little slow-paced and I have *questions* but so far it’s going well. I’m eager to learn more about what’s happening cos it feels like a lot(?) so I’m hoping the next part will give us the goods!

In an effort to tackle my NetGalley TBR and to check off another read on my #NetGalleyNovember Bingo card, I’m also reading A People’s History of Heaven. I knew I was going to enjoy this and I wasn’t wrong—it’s beautifully written, evocative and visually vivid. I can’t wait to continue with it!

To be continued… Eventually!

In other unsurprising news, I still haven’t touched Warbreaker (@ 53%), Hellbound Guilds & Other Misdirections (@ 30%) or She Who Became the Sun (@52%) 🙈… Yes, I am still determined to finish these books!

Post divider: what will you read next?

I’m definitely still in the mood to read more graphic novels but I’m also going to be tackling more of the ARCs on my NetGalleyNovember Bingo card! I will most likely be led astray by more romances though 🙂

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading! 😍

  1. Because I listen when you tell me things, I am reading _Second Chance Charmer_ right now, and just downloaded the second one. I have a long afternoon at the doctor and I’ll need the distraction. You are an evil, evil human. Do you know what I was supposed to be reading this week? (Seriously—thanks for the rec. Just what I needed…)

  2. Yay to Jade Fire Gold! I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to do a buddy read. I’m intrigued to hear what you thought of She Who Became the Sun because as much as I could appreciate it was brilliantly written, I just really struggled to get into the story… I know! I seem to be in the minority lol.
