#TopTenTuesday: Memorable Quotes from Recent Favourites

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Memorable Things Characters Have Said (quotes from book characters that have stuck with you).

I’m very bad at remembering quotes and I’m even worse at remembering to make note of those quotes while I’m reading but I decided to look at some recent favourites and share quotes from them! Some of them are more serious than others but one thing is for sure, I immediately wanted to pick up these books again because these quotes reminded me how much I loved these stories. 😍 I hope you enjoy these quotes, too!

“Love is too small, too singular a word for the feeling it’s trying to hold. Just one word isn’t enough, so I want to use them all. Sometimes I think love is the reason language was invented.”

take a hint, dani brown

“Anything you want to do, you can. Hurdles were made to be jumped. Glass ceilings were made to be smashed. But all that can be exhausting, so make sure you care for yourself too. There’s great value in the things that bring you joy.”

my review

the death of vivek oji

“I’m not what anyone thinks I am. I never was. I didn’t have the mouth to put it into words, to say what was wrong, to change the things I felt I needed to change. And every day it was difficult, walking around and knowing that people saw me one way, knowing that they were wrong, so completely wrong, that the real me was invisible to them. It didn’t even exist to them. So: If nobody sees you, are you still there?”

my review

Ever after always

“We can’t possibly hope to always live ‘happily.’ But ‘ever after’? That we can hope for and choose. Because ‘ever after’ isn’t an idea. It’s a person—an imperfect person who’s perfect for you.” Her eyes search mine as she gives me one soft, tender kiss. “You’re that person, for me. You’re my ever after.”

“And he owned a lot of books, although just now and then, when it got dark and the shelves loomed over him, he got the feeling that they owned him.”

jade city

“Expectations are a funny thing,” Wen said. “When you’re born with them, you resent them, fight against them. When you’ve never been given any, you feel the lack of them your whole life.”

“When something really fits,” she said carefully, “You realize how much energy you’ve been unconsciously devoting to not fitting.”

THE GODDESS OF NOTHING AT ALL

“You read her books?”
Loki held up a finger. “Don’t say it. She’s one of the best Elven storytellers, and you should have expected it.”
“She writes love stories!” I teased.
He scoffed. “And why should I not want to be wooed?”

my review

under the whispering door

“Everyone loses their way at some point, and it’s not just because of their mistakes or the decisions they make. It’s because they’re horribly, wonderfully human. And the one thing I’ve learned about being human is that we can’t do this alone. When we’re lost, we need help to try to find our way again.”

my review

the other side of perfect

“We cried because doing something brave didn’t always make you feel brave. We cried because fixing things was hard, and change was slow. We cried for all the ways that loving something with your whole heart can also break it at the same time.”

Have you read any of these books or are they on your TBR?
What are some of your favourite memorable quotes?

    • Yeeesss!! Jade City is amazing! The whole series is amazing!! I’m planning to re-read it (and actually write my review this time hopefully) before the third book comes out. It’s just so so good! ❤️

  2. I still haven’t read Nicola’s latest, but someday! The cover is pretty. Also, that ‘Ever After’ quote is SO sweet. Tends to have a more realistic truth to it as well. Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Dini! Always glad when you do. 🙂
