#WWWWednesday: 15 September 2021

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish nine books? This is in part thanks to the paranormal romance binge that I did in a little over a day! What can I say? I’m definitely in a romance binging mood!

The Dark Bite (Vampire Hunter Society #1) by Leia Stone ★★★½
Set in the same Magic City world of The Wolf Girl series (below), this spin-off focuses on vampire royalty, Luka and Aspen, the Vampire Hunter he mistakenly bonds with. This had lots of action and our hunter is definitely a kick-ass baddie with a stake, but I wish we got more character development and we got to see our H/H interact just a little more than they did. It’s a promising set up for the series though! RTC.

The Wolf Girl Series (1-4) by Leia Stone ★★★☆☆
This paranormal romance series was so easy to binge. This is a sub-genre that I don’t normally read but this had high entertainment value and it was so easy for me to just turn off my brain and get sucked into the supernatural creature world and of course, major drama! If you’re not into drama, this might not be for you. But if you’re looking for an action-packed series that doesn’t shy away from blood, violence or a slightly angsty but steamy werewolf romance, you might want to check this out! RTC.

The Raven Heir (The Raven Heir #1) by Stephanie Burgis ★★★½
This was a fun, fast-paced and adventure filled story that’s packed with magic and has a strong focus on family, especially sibling, ties. Cordelia was a wild protagonist who could shape-shift and the sibling dynamic between the triplets was so on-point! I wish the world building had been stronger but this was still a promising start to a new middle grade fantasy series. Check out my Top 5 Reasons to Read this book!

Credence by Penelope Douglas ★★★★½
Credence is NOT gonna be for everyone. It’s taboo AF and there’s a lot of outrageous stuff that happens that won’t sit well with many readers (dub con, bullying, violence, etc.), so I would recommend you read the CWs/TWs before picking it up. It’s definitely not gonna be a book for everyone! That said, PD really did something with these characters that got me so invested in their story that I literally stayed up all night to finish this almost 500-page book in one sitting. RTC.

Rabid (Kingdom of Wolves #6) by Ivy Asher & Raven Kennedy ★★★★☆
Shifter romances are still new to me so I’m not sure how ‘formulaic’ this was but I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely the adult version of shifter romances compared to the others I’ve read 😂 and it’s also much darker in theme and content. Seneca and Tyran are very likeable and their chemistry was FIRE—this was steamy AF with dirty talking hero. Seneca is a compelling heroine and her pain was almost visceral, so her journey of healing and acceptance was really satisfying to read! RTC.

It All Comes Back to You by Farah Naz Rishi ★★★★☆
This book sent me on a journey and I have mixed feelings about it? This book is about growth, explores heavy themes, and is deeply emotional. I loved the mixed media format, the banter, the rich desi culture, and the coming-of-age themes and strong sibling relationships, but the scheming actions of one character made me increasingly uncomfortable and it made it difficult to enjoy the book at times. It does end on a lighter and redeeming note though! Blog tour review coming tomorrow!

Still at 45% with She Who Became the Sun because I have yet to pick it back up. I’m also at 50% with Honor’s Revenge because I pretty much menage-d myself out after binging on the first three books? I had to take a break 😂 I just finished my last read at midnight but I’m keen to give Violent Delights a read before finishing these other books and continuing on with my tour reads!

I’ve got a few blog tours coming up but hopefully I’ll also find myself tucking into some more ARCs soon!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading! 😍

I have Credence on my TBR but I’m really intimidated by it. I’m not sure if it will work for me. I’m still super curious about it, though. Can’t decide if I’ll read it. Can you tell I’m indecisive about this book? 😂
