#TopTenTuesday: I Liked It… But I Can’t Remember Much About It…

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Books I Really Liked but Can’t Remember Anything/Much About

Today’s topic is actually books with funny titles but I wasn’t feeling it so I’ve decided to go rogue and do prompt #374 (just for reference today’s prompt is somewhere in the 540s!) from 2018.

I go on about how my memory really fails me a lot and well, it’s true. Prior to writing reviews and having a book blog, I read a lot of popular titles that I remember loving at the time but that I cannot for the life of me remember much about now. There are books I read maybe 5-6 years ago? I mean, you’d think that since I loved them so much, enough to rate them 4-5 stars, I’d remember more about them right? So very wrong. 😂 I’d probably be able to tell you the gist of what happens and maybe even something of what I loved about the book but if you ask me about plot or character specifics, it’s very likely I’ll draw a blank! There are maybe one or two titles on here that I remember more bits about but I think if I were to pick any of these up again it might almost be like reading them for the first time (maybe, almost, likely)! On that note… Here are the books!

Six of Crows I remember the basic things but the fine details (for the duology) are all gone!
Strange the Dreamer
– Same as above but I absolutely loved the gorgeous writing!
A Thousand Pieces of YouI loved the multiverse concept but can’t remember much else 🙈
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour BookstoreUm… I can’t remember much TBH…
The Name of the WindI loved Kvothe and his story was sad but I can’t remember the details ARGH!

Red QueenOne of my first tastes of YA fantasy and I really enjoyed it (esp. the romance?) I dunno…
Fangirl
I actually remember very little of this book (sadly)!
One Day in December This one was a bit angsty but I loved the concept of star-crossed lovers etc.
Daughter of Smoke & BoneI devoured this series but I really can’t remember the details!
The Final EmpireMy first taste of Sanderson and I also devoured the Mistborn trilogy but… I remember very little about the world building, characters, romance and, well, everything? 🙈

Do you remember all the details about the books you liked/enjoyed or are you forgetful like me? Have you read any of these or are they on your TBR?

  1. The sad thing is I could have a really long list for this topic. I’m horrible with the details after I’m done if I didn’t absolutely love or hate it, or if there wasn’t something that stood out to me about it.

  2. OMG Dini! I’m right there with you. I have a terrible memory when it comes to books. I was just looking through my old reviews on Goodreads last night while working on a future TTT and I kept looking at books I’d give 4-5 stars wondering why I couldn’t remember anything about them! Ha! I’ve tried to turn it into a positive. I can reread them and love them all over again. LOL I have the same problem with Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I also sped through that series, but I barely remember anything about it. 🤦‍♀️ It’s so ridiculous, it’s funny. Great twist this week. ❤

  3. Honestly, this is so relatable! Though I’m good at remembering how a book made me feel, the plot details quickly evaporate after reading. But on the plus side, I do think it makes re-reading all the more fun 🙂

  4. You know I used to remember details of stories before netgalley and becoming a blogger because I used to re-read a lot of books! Haha…but now I read too much, so I don’t retain much of any story unless it’s very unique or I love the characters and I have no time to re-read anything. That or I’m getting old lol.

  5. This happens to me too, a lot. Especially, if it didn’t blow me away!! I still need to read A Thousand Pieces of You. I have selected it for my PopSugar Challenge.. so I will get to it this year, at some point. Strange the Dreamer was so beautiful. Honestly, it’s probably great to forget some things if you think you might want to re-read them!! ❤

  6. Great prompt Dini! I remember SOC pretty well, but then I have re-read it a few times so that might be why. I don’t really remember anything about Red Queen though, I remember the romance, and liking it but for specifics I’m drawing an absolute blank.

  7. Are you me? 😂 I can name a load of five star books yet I can’t remember anything about them. It’s especially annoying when sequels come out and I have to re-read the first book.

  8. You are not alone in this, that’s for sure. It always amazes me when people can remember a lot of details even years later.
I went off topic this week, too. I did one from waaaay back in the teens.

  9. Six of Crows, Fangirl, and Red Queen could all make my list, too. I remember a lot of Strange the Dreamer and One Day in December, though. I really think my mood plays a big role in remembering. But with a book like Red Queen, there are so many books in that series that I can’t ever remember what happened in which book. LOL! I can’t even remember if I finished the series at this point.

  10. Look at you, going rogue! I think my bad influence is finally rubbing off! xD Your opening made me laugh. Oh gosh how I relate! There are books I rated 5 stars that I absolutely LOVED to pieces and would recommend but still couldn’t tell you the main character’s name. Or probably any character’s name. I really need to read Strange the Dreamer and Daughter of Smoke and Bone still!

  11. HAHAHAHAHA I FEEL THIS POST DEEPLY! One of the reasons I write reviews for every book I read is because my memory is TERRIBLE! Legit forget plot details, character names etc as I’m reading the book! 😂😂😂😂
