#WWWWednesday: 04 November

It’s funny how an event on the other side of the world has been able to consume my day, as if I really have any stake at all in what’s happening over there. All my friends and many colleagues have been ridiculously preoccupied by the elections, and we’re all waiting with bated breath to see what happens next. It’s been tough watching and it’s still going, but I’m with you all in spirit and really thinking of you, friends! If you need to be distracted, please reach out!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

It’s still been pretty slow going on the reading front and I think it’s because I’m so distracted by all the books that I want to read and can’t decide which comes first. Since last Wednesday I’ve finished four books and I’m happy to say that all of them were really enjoyable and it was a week of solid fours!

Love Offline by Olivia Spring ★★★★☆
I read this for a blog tour and it was a really fun story full of realistic characters and relatable experiences! The romance was heartwarming and the chemistry between our characters was undeniable. Definitely recommended for those who love a contemporary romance that’s sure to make you laugh and is full of quirky charm! Read my review

The Highland Laird (Lord of the Highlands #8) by Amy Jarecki ★★★★☆
I swooped in on this after reading Julie’s review and well, I’m definitely sold on Scottish historical romances 🤣 I mean, oof. This was such a wonderful romance! The H/H were both great characters and they stole my heart. Despite being total opposites they understand each other more than anyone else, and they truly bring out the best in each other. I adored their love. Review to come!

Boone (Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas #3) by Emily March ★★★★☆
I picked this up on a whim and it reminded me of the classic and mature Nora Roberts romances! With a beautiful setting in the Colorado Rockies, there’s sweet banter between our H/H, and a good dose of the small-town community and close-knit family vibes that serve to make romances that much more heartwarming; but it also tackles some fairly serious and heavy topics involving children. It’s the third book but can be read as a standalone. My review will be posted closer to pub day in December!

The Tourist Attraction (Moose Springs, Alasksa #1) by Sarah Morgenthaler ★★★★☆
I just finished this last night and it was entirely different to what I expected. It took a little while for me to get into it but once I was hooked I sailed through the story! Graham and Zoey are probably two of the weirdest, quirkiest and nerdiest characters that I’ve had the pleasure to come across. They were so weird but wow, it really worked in their favour! 😂 Their romance was so sweet and I was just as smitten as they were with each other! Not to mention the insanely adorable fluffo, Jake 😍 Plus, this only made me fall in love with Alaska just that little bit more. Review to come (very soon)!

I’m currently reading Mistletoe & Mr. Right, book two in the Moose Springs series! I started it immediately after finishing book one last night, but I didn’t get very far yet. I’m looking forward to continuing the series and I’m curious about how this book will play out for its characters. I quite liked both of them when we met in book one! So excited to dive back in after I finishing writing this post 😂

These are basically staying where they are. This time, I will definitely be picking up Crowns of Croswald as soon as I finish my current read. So, very soon, I swear! 😂 I’m sure the other ARCs will come after because I’m definitely trying to prioritise them!

How is your reading week going and what are you currently reading? Hope the rest of your week goes well!

    • Yeah, slow weeks are definitely okay! What are your thoughts on Ruthless Gods so far? I also have to read The Princess Will Save You 🙈 Tried a bit of it earlier this year but wasn’t in the right mood so put it down. Hope you’ve had a great week and are enjoying your reads ❤

      • I literally JUST finished Ruthless Gods less than an hour ago. Haha! I quite enjoyed Ruthless Gods… I love the way Emily Duncan writes. She has a way with her beautiful yet grotesque and dark yet divine descriptions and choice of wording. I am really interested to see where the story goes! Usually, at the second book in a trilogy, you sort of know what might happen, if that makes sense? With this series, I have no idea what will happen and I really like that. I like how the characters are unpredictable and that you really don’t know who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, etc. Sorry for the long response!😂 Did you read Ruthless Gods (I can’t remember)/what were your thoughts?

        • Haha no worries, I am the queen of leaving long comments/responses all the time, so I get it 😂
I did read Ruthless Gods earlier this year and I mean, I did enjoy how dark and grotesque the writing was, but I also ended up getting even more confused than ever after I finished book two 🤣 I also have to admit that I was not a fan of Nadya, but I still adored Serefin! I think you might’ve enjoyed Ruthless Gods much more than me but I’m still looking forward to the third book coz now I just need to know how the story ends! LOL

          • No I definitely agree with you on the confusion. Sometimes, I was just confused about their “holy war” and the world that they are in. I feel like I don’t know the rules, if you will, of the world and their magic so it is really difficult to figure out where the story is going next or sometimes just keeping up with the story was difficult. Serefin is hilarious 😂 I enjoy reading his banter with the others. I definitely think that I didn’t enjoy RG as much as I thought I was going to but it was still entertaining. I know; we have to wait until April 2021! 😳

  1. It’s all I can do not to throw up re: election. I don’t know who has it worse, people here in the US or people other places who have no say and just wait to see. 😵 I just picked up spellbreaker, but I probably won’t read it for a bit haha

    • Oh gosh, I can totally understand! It’s so insane. My dad grew up in America so he’s a little obsessed and can’t stop watching and talking about it. It’s quite intense and draining! I’ve heard good things about Spellbreaker and it does sound good (it’s on my TBR)! Hope you’re enjoying it if you’ve managed to read 😅
