So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Cover Freebie
I’m a little sad that this week is a cover freebie because I. Am. Tired and fresh out of ideas right now. 😂 I thought I’d do illustrated covers but then realised that I had already done an illustrated cover post for the last TTT cover freebie… So then I thought about what covers I’ve been loving lately and thought I’d share some of my favourite contemporary romance covers from 2020. Looking at the covers below, it’s really easy to see what kind really catch my eye: they’re (mostly) illustrated, bright and colourful, and just gives an all around fun-loving impression!
Okay, so basically I did another illustrated covers post but for romances HAH…
And I know this is a cover trend I’ve heard people say is “overdone” and that they’re completely over it, but I’m still 100% living for it! LOL if physical copies of contemporary romances weren’t so pricey I would love to add all of these to my physical shelves, but *wistful sigh* as it is, I’ll have to be satisfied with having them in my digital library (for now!) 😉
What kind of covers do you tend to gravitate towards?
Are you also a fan of illustrated covers?

Great list! I agree, some people seem tired of the trend but I think the romance genre is so suited to illustrated covers. 🙂

Maybe it’s just my bias but I feel like I love romance covers more when they’re illustrated 😂

There are a lot of illustrated covers right now. I think it gives the books a light feeling.

Haha that’s okay. It’s definitely one of my favourite 2020 romance covers! The colours, the illustrations, everything about it is so eye-catching. I love it 😍

Ah I really love these! I’ve been starting to read romance books recently and I’ve definitely found half the fun is when the covers look like this. I keep seeing You Had Me at Hola everywhere but some of these are new to me which is nice

Yay for romance! I am such a sucker for illustrated romance covers. I kind of wish all of them were like this (okay, maybe not all but most!) 🤪 I hope you continue enjoying the romances!

I mean they’re sticking around for a reason: they ARE attractive 😍 and if nothing else it’s easy to tell at a glance likely what kind of book you’re getting into 😂

Haha oh, there’s definitely no mistaking what you’re getting most of the time, but I have found one or two to be (unfortunately and fortunately) misleading! I just love illustrated covers 😍

I also love how bright and colourful illustrated romance covers are, I especially love the cover of By the Book and Crazy Stupid Bromance!

Same here! I do enjoy a good photo cover but I also find that I’m attracted to the ones that mix some bright/colourful text with the photos. Anything that catches my eye 😍

Crazy Stupid Bromance made my list today, too. I love that cover. I think my favorite for 2020 is The Reality of Everything by Rebecca Yarros. That cover just pops for me.

I just really *really* didn’t like Liv in the first book and knowing how I felt about her then I’m worried it’ll just affect how I feel about book two 🤣

I hope illustrated romance covers are here to stay. They balance out the covers with shirtless men and intimate couple poses IMO. Great list!

I’m kind of a hater when it comes to illustrated covers. I just don’t usually like them. However, I have seen some really beautiful ones out there, so I guess illustrated covers aren’t ALL bad 🙂

I was feeling the same way this week: tired and uninspired. I ran with the first idea I had. Ha! I agree, I’m still loving the illustrated covers. They’re so happy and eye-catching. I especially love when there’s little hints of the story added in. 😉

I love this topic so very much. I am just loving all the amazing romance covers that have been coming out lately. It has never really been my genre but all these covers really just make me want to pick them up! <3<3<3
