Book Ending Spring: The Wedding Tag!

Hello, hello, friends! Thanks to Leelynn tagging me on her Book Ending Spring post, I’ve remembered that I said I’d finally like to join in the fun after seeing it all over the blogosphere last fall. Honestly, if my head wasn’t attached I’d probably forget it somewhere these days because my mind is all over the show. Yikes!

For those who don’t already know, Book Ending Spring (2020) is hosted by Sam @ Fictionally Sam and Clo @ Cuppa Clo, and it’s one of the quarterly events running under the umbrella term “Bookend Events” that aspires to bring the book blogging community closer together! You can find more information on the announcement page and you can sign up to join as well, if you want in on the blogging fun! So… Without further ado, let’s get to day two’s prompt: The Wedding Tag!

  • Have fun!

The Wedding Tag is an OG tag that plays off the wedding phrase: “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.”

Something old

What is the oldest book on your shelf?

I find this question a little vague although I’m probably over thinking it. Is it the book I’ve had on my shelf the longest? Or is it the oldest publication date? 😂 I’m going to go with the book I’ve had on my current shelves the longest and that’s probably my beautiful flexibound copy of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. It’s gorgeous but a total hulking chunk of a beast with very teeny tiny text that even has me shaking in my boots! 😅

Something NEW

your last book/bookish purchase/received

I got an email from Amazon First Reads reminding me that options were now available for April and although I still haven’t read any of the first reads books I’ve chosen in previous months, I went ahead and picked Love on Beach Avenue (The Sunshine Sisters #1) by Jennifer Probst. Yeah, the title itself is already a little cheesy but I’m here for the cheese! 🧀

Something borrowed

a character you’d borrow for the day

Urgh, this is such a tough question to answer! I want to borrow so many characters for the day, how do I just pick one?! Hmm… I think I would borrow Elisabeth Scrivener from Sorcery of Thorns and she can take me to the Great Libraries and she can tell me about the books and I can witness the magic of these enchanting and enchanted books all day! Maybe she can also teach me how to be a badass grimoire fighter 😂 …And hopefully she’ll take me to meet Thorn and Silas, too 😏

Something blue

A Book with the word blue in the title

I’ve been keen to read Twice In A Blue Moon by Christina Lauren ever since it released… Last year *cough* 👀 I’ve heard some pretty mixed reviews for it which has made me a little nervous about picking it up but I’m still looking forward to giving it a try! Plus I’m such a sucker for this cover (I really don’t know why but it makes me so happy)!

Please don’t feel obliged to do this if you’re not into tags!

    • Haha this might legit be the fastest I’ve ever one a tag after being tagged 😂But it’s a good reminder that I do wanna join in this challenge (although I’m clearly not going to be doing it every day since I’ve already missed quite a few haha)!

  1. That is a stunning copy of Les Misérables! Puts the movie tie-in version from the library I had to settle for to shame. And I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one with a First Reads problem! Every time I get the email, I feel like I should pick one, but I’m not sure I’ve read any yet…

    • It’s beautiful! But it’s huuuuge and the text is tiny which makes it even more intimidating 🤣 Haha oh, hello fellow First Reads Non-Reader 😅 I feel so guilty when that happens so I haven’t picked for the last two months I think! Haha lets see if this will be the first time I read it before pub day!

  2. That’s a beautiful copy of Les Misérables 😍. I have a First Reads problem too. I have so many books downloaded but think I’ve only read about 3 🙈.

Thanks for tagging hopefully I’ll get around to it this year 🤣🤣

    • It really is beautiful, just very intimidating 😂 Ooh all the First Readers coming out of the wood works! Haha until now I didn’t know who else participated in the program. It’s good to know 😀 Haha

  3. That’s a fun little tag. Thanks for including me! I want a copy of Les Mis on my shelves. That’s one of the classics I love that I don’t yet own a physical copy of. Unfortunately I was one of those that didn’t love Twice in a Blue Moon. I didn’t hate it by any means, but it definitely was my least favorite of theirs of the ones I’ve read. I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up, though!

    • I haven’t even read Les Mis yet but I do want to! It’s just a little intimidating… I also haven’t even seen the movie(s) yet but I do know some of the songs 😂 How could i not, of course! Lol ooh, I think I remember seeing your Blue Moon review. I’m wondering what I’ll think of it now 😅

      • Les Mis is definitely intimidating and can be a very slow read, too. But, there are so many beautiful hidden gems in it, and the ending is just so amazing!! I took a very long time to read it, but it was so worth it!

        • I think the thing with such chunky reads like Les Mis is that I have to read it in one go and I can’t put it off for ages otherwise I’ll lose interest? I have no doubt there are some gems in it 😀 I will definitely get to it one day (hopefully soon)! ❤

  4. I also was scared off by the mixed reviews of Twice in a Blue Moon and haven’t read it yet. But I did finally finish The Honey-Don’t List and loved it! 🙂

    • Haha I think I’m also putting it off because of those mixed reviews… But I guess now would be a good a time as any to get crackin on more reads, right? I saw your review of Honey Don’t and I’m SO excited for it 😀

  5. Such a fun tag! Thank you so much for tagging me! ❤ I tend to love and get excited about all the tag, but am horrible at actually doing them. Lol

This art of Elisabeth from Sorcery of Thorns is ❤ ❤ ❤ I wouldn't mind going to one of the libraries in her world either.

  6. Omg yes, I’d love to hang out with Elisabeth for a day – she doesn’t seem like she’d be too intimidating & we can just talk about books all day. Added bonus of meeting Silas & Nathaniel, ofc 😉
