The Sunshine Blogger Award II

Just the other day, the wonderful Mani @ Mani’s Book Corner for The Sunshine Blogger Award! Thank you so much for the nomination, Mani! Mani is one of the sweetest and most supportive bloggers that I’ve met in my time here and so I suggest that you quickly head on over to their page if you aren’t already following them! *shoo*

I’ve been nominated for this award once or twice now, but I’ve only got around to answering it once. I’m so very terrible with the tags and awards, aren’t I? But on that note, let’s get straight into it before I drive myself to complete distraction!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

If you could get an ARC of any one of your most anticipated releases, which would it be?

First one that comes to mind is A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers #2) by Brigid Kemmerer! I really really really want to read this sequel and I can’t wait until it comes out.

What is your least favorite book you have read this year?

It’s probably this ARC that I read very early on in the year: Mixed Signals by Mia Heintzelman. I had high hopes because the blurb sounded cute and I really liked the cover (yes, totally cover judging right now) but no. It was a big no.

What is a book or series that you feel is overrated?

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I’m sorry I’m not very sorry about this. I think this is one of my most disliked books EVER. It takes a lot for me to dislike a book but wow, I don’t think I’ve ever hated characters more than I did in this book–and maybe that was the point but I give zero f’s. I was so angry, so ready to throw this book at someone’s head, so ready to kill the characters myself and I took absolutely zero enjoyment from this reading experience. I didn’t even want to waste my time watching the movie (despite hearing that it was good). Just a big. fat. NO! Am I sounding salty AF? 🤣

What is a series you have been wanting to get into, but keep putting off?

There are so many but one of them is The Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown. I don’t know why I keep putting this series off but I think I’m a little intimidated by it. I do like sci-fi/dystopia but I admit that sometimes they can be really hit or miss. I hope this one is a hit though 🙂

What is a hyped book you have no interest in reading?

City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. I thought I might’ve been interested in reading it when the hype was high but the more I thought about it, the more I really didn’t feel like it? I wasn’t a big fan of Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love and I’m still not getting over that, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ #sorrynotsorry

What is your favorite female and favorite male character?

Tough question, much?! 😅 I’m really bad at answering these ‘favorites’ type questions because I mean, there are always so many options to choose from and how can I possibly choose?! This doesn’t specify whether it’s a favorite of all time, so I’m going to go with the two characters that popped into my head: Victor Vale from Vicious and Kady Grant from Illuminae Files.

It’s a dark and stormy winter’s night. What book would you curl up beside the fire to reread?

I’d probably choose Pride and Prejudice and I would put on the 2005 movie soundtrack on repeat while I read! I’ve done this many times before. It’s my perfect snuggle-under-the-doona read 🥰

Do you like to keep your books in pristine condition or are you happy to write in them or dog ear them etc?

Nope, I very rarely write in books or dog ear my pages! It’s only in very desperate situations when I can’t find anything to use as a bookmark would I dog ear a page. And even then it would be such a teeny tiny dog ear that it would very easily un-dog ear itself (speaking from experience). LOL

What’s your favorite time of the day to review the books you read?

I think this depends on when I finish reading a book. Sometimes I’ll break out the notes on my phone right away and start writing part of the review or at least jot down some notes. Other times it usually depends on if it’s a weekend or not; if it’s a weekend I’ll write during the day and during the weekday it’s at night after work!

Best bookstore you’ve visited?

It’d have to be THE STRAND in NYC! I haven’t been to that many amazing bookstores that leave me speechless, but the minute I stepped into The Strand, my jaw dropped and I almost hyperventilated from excitement (might not even be joking about that lol). It was just so beautiful

What movie could you watch over and over again?

This is a toughie because I have a select few that I already watch repeatedly — my comfort movies! It’d either be the 2005 Pride and Prejudice or The Lord of the Rings movies! The LOTR movies are my best and favorite hangover recovery binges — or really just some great movies to put on when having an exceptionally lazy day that involves zero movement while lying in bed 🙃

And that’s a wrap, folks! 🎬 Ooh, that was so much fun. I love a great tag and answering all these questions have really got me in that autumn mood where I want to cozy up in bed under my duvet with a book!

I Tag

No pressure at all if doing tags or awards isn’t your thing. While I love tags/awards, I’m pretty horrible at actually doing them, so I get it!

My Questions

Well, I actually really like all the questions that Mani shared so I think I’m going to keep some of these questions that she asked me and change a few! I hope that’s not cheating 🙂 Thanks, Mani! Lol

  2. Congrats on the award!! Well deserved. 🙂 Mixed Signals looks cute, and yes Kady Grant! She’s awesome (and I loved the girl from Gemina too- she was badass).

And haha Gone Girl! I just received it in the mail from a giveaway I won and I’ve heard ALL the things- I’m looking forward to seeing how twisted it actually is lolol. I’m expecting to hate the characters from what I’ve heard…

  5. Congrats!! You deserve all the awards!! 😀 If I have to write in my books, I do it with a pencil only? Though I’m pretty sure I used a highlighter in my copy of Ari and Dante, hmmm… But usually I just use post it notes since I have them plenty. And lately I’ve been using mostly my kindle so there’s no issue with that lol 😀

  6. Thanks for the tag Dini! Totally agree with you on Pride and Prejudice ❤ That's an all-time fav of mine, especially the BBC series with Colin Firth. His voice is the perfect Darcy! I have an odd judgemental thing for voices haha 😛 You made me laugh reading about the TEENY TINY dog ears… I can just imagine trying to make them as small and unnoticeable as possible! Jen

  7. Thanks for the tag!! I knew you would pick Pride and Prejudice ❤ Both the book and the 2005 movie are my go-tos! I've also been putting off Red Rising haha, idk why tho. I own the first book, but like you said its kinda intimidating for some reason.
